USC football adds 4-star prospect Lake McRee to class of 2021

The commitments continue to come for the USC football program.

The three-star tight ending Lake McRee announced his commitment to the Trojan program live on Instagram on Friday night. Broadcast from his home, McRee debuted his full-room engagement video with family and friends.

When the video announced his choice of USC, McRee took off a sweater to reveal a USC t-shirt that was applauded by the crowd around him.

He is the third pickup for USC this week after quarterback Miller Moss and wide receiver Michael Jackson announced their commitments to the program on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

McRee from Austin, Texas, chose USC over Washington, Purdue, Penn State, Auburn, and LSU. He is the number 18 tight end in the country according to, while ESPN ranks him both as a four-star recruit and as the number 6 overall tight end.

With its addition, the 2021 Trojans class, now made up of 16 players, remains the number 1 in the Pac-12 Conference and the country’s number 4. McRee is the group’s first tight end and the third player from the state of Texas to join four-star with Brandon Campbell and four-star receiver Quaydarius Davis.
