Who let the dog out? Clearly, not its owner.

A police officer from Clermont County, Ohio with a soft spot for furry friends didn’t think twice before rescuing a puppy from inside a locked vehicle on a hot summer day.

In bodycam footage released by the Miami Township Police, officer Sherrie Howard responded to a call about a puppy passed out in the back seat of a vehicle this past weekend. According to news outlet WKRC, the dog was trapped inside the vehicle for more than an hour with the internal temperature hitting 30°C.

Howard first tried to jimmy the driver’s side door open with a wire. When that proved unsuccessful, the cop busted the window open with a collapsible baton.
