A white woman called a black woman the n-word while out shopping and swiftly got punched in the face – with the shocking fight caught on video.
In the clip, the unidentified middle-aged woman uses the racist slur while arguing with the young black woman in a supermarket in Sacramento, California, on Monday.
Most of their shouting is muffled, but the older woman is heard repeatedly yelling: “All I said was excuse me.”
The black woman then says the word “racist” and appears to throw something at the older white woman, who holds up her arms to shield her face.
At this point the white woman allegedly says the n-word, although it’s not audible in the clip, enraging the young woman who squares up to her and demands “wash your mouth”.
“Call me that again,” she says threateningly, adding: “Try it.”
Shockingly, the middle-aged woman then clearly states the n-word – and the younger woman delivers a quick punch to her face.
In the scuffle that ensues, the white woman ends up sitting on the floor and appears to be holding onto the black woman’s arm.
“Are you gonna let me go?” the black woman says and hits her again.
“I’m gonna beat your ass again,” she adds before leaving.
The footage, recorded at a 7-Eleven, went viral on social media and the white woman has been dubbed “Sacramento Karen”.
Karen is a common name given to middle-aged or “boomer” white women who get embroiled in rows, often in public places.
Sacramento Sheriff’s Department confirmed that they were called to a 7-Eleven after reports of two women fighting on June 22, TMZ reports.
In the UK it is illegal to use the “n-word” as a slur under hate speech laws but in the US there is no law against its usage and hate speech is legally protected free speech under the First Amendment.
There have been no charges and the white woman decided not to file a complaint, according to local reports.
