A woman was raped and punched on a Spanish nudist beach before her attacker robbed her and fled.
Police are hunting for a “North African-looking man”, aged around 30-years-old, according to local reports.
He allegedly forced himself on the victim in her 50s as she sunbathed on a secluded beach near the seaside resort of Mazarron in south east Spain.
After attacking the woman he stole the victim’s purse and mobile phone, it is claimed.
A couple then went to her aid after she started shouting for help.
The Civil Guard is leading the investigation.
The incident happened around 1pm on August 29, but has only just been made public.
Her rescuers stayed until police arrived and told La Verdad de Murcia: “When we came level with the cove from the mountain side, we saw there was a man and a woman on the sand.
“As we walked down towards the beach, we began to hear crying and shouts of desperation.
“The woman kept on saying, ‘I’ve been raped.’
“The man was about 30 and wore a hat, short trousers and a brown T-shirt.”
Explaining how the suspect left as they went to help the woman, the witness added: “We spent a long time with her while we waited for police to arrive.
“She said she had gone down to the beach to have a dip in the sea and sunbathe and the man approached her while she was there.
“He pushed her towards an area where there were stones and then raped her.”
He also told the paper investigators had told them medics had discovered the woman had sustained several injuries when they examined her at hospital.
