A woman allegedly let her son die on the bathroom floor after he fell out of his wheelchair – leaving him there for three days.
Cheryl Christensen’s 46-year-old at-risk child broke bones during the fall in the city of Racine, Wisconsin, the US, she claimed.
The 60-year-old allegedly dragged him to bathroom and didn’t call for help – telling police she didn’t want him to die alone.
The man suffered physical and brain injuries after being hit by a vehicle when he was 14, The Journal Times reports.
Other relatives called police last month to ask for a welfare check.
Christensen allegedly told officers she wanted one of them to kill her when they got to the property.
They used a taser and found her son under a blanket on the bathroom floor.
Christensen said he had fallen out of bed and started screaming in pain.
Believing he had broken bones, she took him to the bathroom and gave him pills.
Christensen said she gave him food and water for several days until be began refusing.
Police said all the doors were marked with a red X.
Christensen thought there might be demons in the house and said it had a “a mad energy to it,” an affidavit read.
She also claimed that her son’s condition was deteriorating and that he was “on his way out”.
However, other relatives said he was in good health after a visit to a doctor in September.
Christensen was taken into custody on Thursday, November 12, and charged with negligently subjecting an at-risk individual to abuse causing death, obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct.
