Anju Bobby George was recognized as the best in world athletics. Which added another feather to his crown of success. Less than 24 hours after receiving this recognition, the former long jumper also got the responsibility. On the same day, Union Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Anurag Tagore announced that Anju would be added to the Mission Olympic Cell for the Paris Olympics.
Anju Bobby George holds the record of being the first Indian athlete to win a medal at the World Championships. This time World Athletics awarded Anju the Woman of the Year award for her contribution to sports in India. While announcing the names of the award winners in virtually different categories, Anju’s name brought a happy atmosphere in the Indian sports arena.

Anju Bobby George won bronze in the long jump at the 2003 World Championships in Paris. He is currently the Co-President of the Athletics Federation of India and also the Athletes Commission of the Indian Olympic Association. She trains young girls in her academy. Anjur students, including Shaili Singh, who won gold in the under-20 category, are also getting success at the international level. The award was given by World Athletics in recognition of Anju’s contribution to the field of sports in India, especially in attracting more women to sports and developing their talents. Thompson-Herah and Kirsten Warholm, the Olympic gold medalists, won the Athlete of the Year award.

On the same day, Union Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Anurag Tagore announced the addition of former athletes to the Mission Olympic Cell for the success of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The cell will be responsible for finalizing which athletes will be financially supported through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme.

The Sports Authority of India has formed this cell to decide which athletes will be under Tops, who will be left out, which coaches will be there, which organizations will get financial support from Tops. Former Indian football captain Vaichung Bhutia, Anju Bobby George, former Indian hockey captains Sardar Singh and Biren Rasquinha, shooting legend Anjali Bhagwat, shuttler Trupti Murgundi, paddler Monalila Mehta are all trying to make things better.
